Summer Body
It’s not that I don’t like summer
I just feel prettier in the fall
I can cover my arms and legs. Hide my double chin. And all
The sun doesn’t illuminate my skin quite as harshly.
I don’t have to constantly tug at my clothes to cover a section of stomach exposed partially
No one knows if I’ve shaved today, no one even gets a peak
No one can see the cheese burger clinging to my body from last week.
It doesn’t matter if my skin is a little dry, or my hair a bit greasy
Articles of clothing can cover everything, easily
“Aren’t you hot in that?” They ask when I wear cargo pants in 100 degrees
Hot? Yeah, maybe. No worries I’ll stick to shade under trees.
It’s not that I hate summer. It’s just my body wasn’t ready.
Maybe next year I won’t be quite as heavy.
